If you are like me and you sit down, open your computer, click on new document and see a blank page before you and completely forget what you’re going to type; you stare at the blinking curser and cannot compose anything. Then that means you have writers block, it is very effective in making it seem like your brain isn’t working or you can’t think of what to write. It’s a common problem in the writing world. Sometimes I read the same sentence over and over before I can continue to the next sentence.
Fiction Writing
Writing with your imagination and thinking outside the box comes a whole new door to fiction. Now I’m no expert, but I know the basics between fiction and non-fiction. For one, they are totally opposite. Fiction is a make believe world of endless fairy tales and unlimited adventures. With fiction, you can literally write anything, you can make a whole world, language and people. Or write a book of little tales of magical animals. Anything you can think of, you can write. Fiction writing is an infinite flow of ideas and plots, it can be a little overwhelming, but if you work hard I know you can do it. Fiction doesn’t always have to be a magical, make believe fairy tale. There is a whole other side of fiction, using events or characters from real life and making it yours. Creating a story based on true events, people or places with an imaginary twist.
Non-Fiction Writing
This is the subject where you will need a lot more research to make your writing come to life. Working to convey the events, people, or places in an accurate way. Non-fiction is the dive into real life. There are many genres in the non-fiction field, such as historical, biography, report-based, information books, even cookbooks and so much more. You can definitely tell that non-fiction is the opposite of fiction. There are so many different topics, events and people that are very interesting to write about that is just a search away.
In the writing world these two things are the foundation of any story, knowing if it is make-believe or real life is pretty important in helping your readers understand the basics of what the writing is about, it narrows it down a little bit.

When it comes to writing without borders, my personal preference is fiction, because there is so much more freedom to write the story that you imagine. If you want to write a book about Julia Child who writes a cookbook then non-fiction is better. Whatever you choose, it will be one of these subjects. Fiction and non-fiction are the basis of literature, with them anything can spark. Whether it’s for a fun story, or a professional novel, the word world is waiting.
Borders are tricky, sometimes they’re there to protect us, and sometimes they’re there to hold us back. You have to decide, and use your own discernment. Writing with borders is also tricky, there are sometimes certain guidelines that you need to follow, lets say if you were entering a writing contest or writing a paper for school, usually there will be some guidelines you need to follow. Now writing without borders, that is where it gets interesting, not only do you have the power to write whatever you want, but you can articulate it the way you want and that is the privilege of being a writer.
